When He revised (lied about) his role in the whole Palestinian – Israel thing so he didn’t come off as the Jew hater that he is, you could at least understand that time could blur some events in his mind but here the whole Nation heard what he said just a couple of weeks ago about Obama critics mostly being racists. The HTC Touch Pro2 and AT&T is driving me CRAZY!

Being that I am admittedly, though shamefully so, a Windows Mobile Phone Fan Boy I have been waiting for two years to quench my phone lust on the HTC Touch Pro2. Well, it is almost time now and I just cannot take it anymore. T-mobile has already released their version of the TP2 and Sprint has just announced theirs will be available for purchase Sept. 8th. What’s my problem with that you say, Well its probably because I am an AT&T customer.  AT&T has (supposedly) a version of the TP2 as well (possibly called the TILT2) and while there has been a picture (or two) in the wild nothing substantial about it has been confirmed, such as release date, software, etc.

And that really leads to my first point about this phone and AT&T which is the maddening way that the carriers release information, or not release information as the case may be, about their upcoming launches.  I am sure the carriers have some good reason to do it this way but I sure as heck can’t figure it out because it would seem logical to little ole, simplistic, me that it would be in everybody’s interest if their customers knew what was coming down the pike so they could plan on the upgrades.  But from my dealings with AT&T, logic may not have anything to do with it. Maybe they believe that it is a good business practice to treat their customers like mushrooms, you know, like keep them in the dark & feed them, ugh.., manure.  This really does not surprise me about AT&T at all and that leads me to my second point below.

Now I am not locked into a contract with AT&T on my service, in fact I am still using my trusty (over) 2 year old  HTC Tilt (which is getting long in the tooth) but because AT&T bundles all of my my communication services together and gives me a significant break its makes the decision a little harder to jump ship to one of these other carriers.  This bundle break, the fact that I like my DSL broadband, and that I am also quite happy with my beloved Dish Network HD DVR system  are the only reasons that I would consider NOT leaving AT&T.  Believe me, AT&T gives me so many other reasons to leave.

The list would be long and the explanation longer on why I hate AT&T but there are a couple of thing that I can state unequivocally about the reincarnated AT&T (Ma Bell) that lend me to believe that they have the sorriest  Customer Support of any major Corporation that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with!

• Terrible phone support is one, with helpful, Customer Support people, somewhere not in the US,  more than happy to confuse you about things that you better be an expert on.  Its terrible when you know that you need to hang up the phone (now ) to keep from helping them screw their problem up even worse.  God help the newbies.
• Whats  even worse than their customer support, has to be what I consider to be thee Sorriest corporate attitude I have ever experienced.   There is a reason that “AT&T” is always a top trending  topic on TWITTER and its usually accompanied by the word FAIL.  I have had to deal with them time and time again, usually because of something that they have done but failed to notify me of, or did not take into account, or maybe did not understand the ramifications of their changes themselves.
• I think they must pay their customer support people by the call because that might explain why they keep making you call them.  Surely they would understand that it is a “bad thing” (for them and their customer) to force their customers to call them all of the time.  I am pretty tech savvy and the last thing I want to do is get on the phone with someone in INDIA reading a cue card but they have left me no choice several times lately.  The worst thing about it is that they box you out so when you come to the conclusion that you are so through with it and you try to get your frustration heard up the ladder to the next level of Management, you can’t.  I ended up emailing every link I could find about my experiences and the responses were mostly generic form emails, and the responses that were personally responded too, claimed it either wasn’t their department or that it wasn’t clear what my problem was….
• One word to you AT&T, FAIL.

Now I want to be clear that I am not speaking ill of their Service Techs who come out and set up your services or fix the on-site hardware.  In my area they are the old BellSouth guys and they are usually the nicest, professional, competent, Servicemen you are going to deal with.  When you mention your frustration with their employer, they generally look embarrassed and mumble that they get the same treatment when they complain.

Anyway, back to my Phone Lust for the HTC TP2.  If you have not heard of it, I believe it to be the finest phone you are going to find for business (and possibly playing around as well).  I know that out there are many of the “Iphone lovers”, and now the “Android geeks” who probably will not give this phone a look because of previous experiences with Win-Mo phones but from what I see you do not have to be a GEEK, or a Microsoft Whiz to get a lot out of this phone.  I think it will be at the Top in the running for best  phone of 2009 – 2010.
